Mrs. White was born on February 3, 1919 in Blythe Georgia, the fourth of twelve children born to William Watkins Anderson and Jessie Meadows Anderson. As one of the older children in the large family, she quickly developed personality traits that would remain with her for a lifetime. Her caring and loving nature was evident in the way she spoke and lived her life. She was the most caring and attentive “Momma” imaginable. However, for most of her life, her affectionately bestowed title was “Granny.” This is how she was known to most everyone around her. For many years, Granny’s house was a haven to many. She welcomed family, friends and neighbors into her warm, loving home. There was never any need to call ahead. You knew that if you stopped by her house, she would never be too busy for a “visit.” Within minutes, she would have the coffee pot on and in no time, she would have something good to eat. No one ever left her house without a meal or snack, a hug and knowing that they were loved. She will be remembered most for her kind, loving nature, infectious laugh and beautiful flowers. She was loved by so many and there will never be another like her. She was a member of Burns Memorial United Methodist Church, The Carolyn Johnson Circle, The Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Happy Club and the Georgia Chapter of United Methodist Women.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the staff of The University Wing of Kentwood Extended Care Facility for their excellent care and love given to Mrs. White over the past three years. Special thanks to Dr. Luther Thomas, III for his kindness and diligent care. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Augusta Humane Society.
