Rosemary Louise Nagy

Rosemary Louise Nagy (nee Spies), 83, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, at home surrounded by family. Born on August 2, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, Rosemary lived a life marked by kindness, service, and deep devotion to her family and community.

She graduated with honors from the University of Toledo in 1963 with a degree in education. A proud member of the National Honor Society and the Homecoming Court, Rosemary went on to become a beloved teacher – first in Ohio, and later at St. Mary’s on the Hill in Augusta, Georgia.

A heart for others defined her life. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, taught English to Spanish-speaking adults, and helped other adults learn to read, write and achieve their GEDs. Her deep faith anchored her, and she was an active and cherished member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church.

Rosemary was also an animal lover, avid traveler, devoted reader, and passionate gardener. But more than anything, she loved home – a peaceful haven she built with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 60 years, Bill Nagy. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, John and Rachel Nagy, and Mark and Kim Nagy; her sister, Carolyn Nagy and brother-in-law, Jim Nagy; her grandchildren, Karen Goodsell, Luke Nagy, Keira Nagy, and her great-grandchild, Miles Goodsell; multiple nieces, nephews and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, Rosemary will be cremated, and her cremains along will be lovingly mixed with her husband’s and spread on their property, as her favorite place was home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Albrecht Center for Animal Welfare, 199 Willow Run Drive, Aiken, SC 29801.
