Voncille Holsonback Cumbee

August 18, 1942 — May 12, 2025

Voncille H. Cumbee, a lifelong resident of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12th, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on Tuesday, August 18th, 1942, in Aiken, Voncille lived a life full of love, joy, and dedication to her family, community, and passions.

Voncille was a beloved secretary at Graniteville Textile Mills, where she spent many years contributing to the workplace with her diligence and warm spirit. Her colleagues and friends knew her for her attention to detail and her cheerful demeanor.

Her love for antiques was well-known, as she and her late husband of 63 years, Jimmie Ray Cumbee Sr., traveled across the Southeast with friends, exploring and collecting beautiful pieces of history. Affectionately nicknamed "Blossom" by Jimmie for her love of gardening, Voncille found serenity in the beauty of nature, often spending her days tending to her garden.

Family was the center of Voncille’s world. She was deeply proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who adorned the walls of her home with their smiling faces. She was a devoted mother to her surviving sons, Jimmie Ray Cumbee, Jr. and Mark D. (Cathy) Cumbee, both of Aiken. Voncille's sister and brother-in-law, Dale (Sam) Jordan, and her brothers and sisters-in-law, Oneal (Janice) Holsonback and Jerry (Vickie) Holsonback, all of Aiken, were integral parts of her life. Her grandchildren, Justen, Mary, Jasen, Samantha, Katie, Stephen, Morgan, and Cameron, and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Mason, Rhett, Trey, Raylee, Emilie, and Natalie, were her pride and joy; and her special friends Wayne and Ruthie
Plunkett
