William Cordell Scotten

June 20, 1921 — September 18, 2003

Mr. William Cordell Scotten, III, 82, of Aiken, died Thursday September 18, 2003 at his residence, under the care of Hitchcock Hospice. Services will be private. Memorial donations may be directed to the Hitchcock Foundation 318 Park Ave. SW Aiken, SC 29801.

Born in Kansas City, MO, he was the son of the late William C. Scotten, Sr. and Cleta F. Church Scotten. He moved to Aiken in 1952 to work at the Savannah River Site for DuPont. He retired in the early 1980?s with over thirty years of service as a chemical engineer. He was a published science fiction writer and a member of the Science Fiction Writers of America. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Aiken.

He is survived by his wife Maxine Frasch Scotten, two sons; Stephen L. Scotten, Glen Cove, NY and David E.Donna Scotten, Aiken, a daughter; Sue Anne Moore, Augusta, GA, and seven grandchildren; Hagan Scotten, Patrick Misty Servedio, Nicole Keith Amerson, Emily Scotten, Jonathan Scotten, Michaela Scotten, and Melanie Scotten and one great-grandson Zachary Amerson
